Johnny Bench hit a three-run double and Dave Concepcion added a two-run triple to lead the Reds to an 8-5 victory over the Astros. Bench hit his two-bagger off J.R. Richard in third inning.

Richard left the game with arm trouble in the fourth after giving up a single by Joe Price and a pass to Dave Collins. Concepcion greeted reliever Randy Niemann with his triple. Ken Griffey drove in Concepcion with a single and then scored himself after singles by Dan Driessen and Ray Knight. [The Sporting News]
