Recording his 284th career victory, Gaylord Perry pitched the Rangers to a 6-3 verdict over the Mariners. The Rangers scored in the first inning on a triple by Mickey Rivers and single by Buddy Bell. Rivers then accounted for two RBIs, one with a groundout in the fourth and another with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Richie Zisk also knocked in two runs for the Rangers. [The Sporting News]
