With a fireworks show as an added attraction, the Indians drew 73,096 and entertained the largest crowd in the major leagues since 1973 by defeating the Yankees, 7-0. Wayne Garland, continuing his comeback from 1978 shoulder surgery, pitched a two-hitter and posted his first shutout since June 23, 1977.
