After winning the first game, 4-2, with the help of Cliff Johnson's first homer in a Chicago uniform, the Cubs also defeated the Pirates in the second game, 2-1, to complete a sweep of the doubleheader. Johnson, who came to the Cubs from the Indians June 23, hit his homer with Lenny Randle on base in the first inning. The Cubs then added their winning margin in the fifth, scoring two unearned runs on three Pirate errors. [The Sporting News]
