After winning the first game, 4-2, with the help of Cliff Johnson's first homer in a Chicago uniform, the Cubs also defeated the Pirates in the second game, 2-1, to complete a sweep of the doubleheader. Johnson, who came to the Cubs from the Indians June 23, hit his homer with Lenny Randle on base in the first inning.
