The Expos, who lost the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 9-5, came back to beat the Mets in the second game, 6-5, for only their eighth victory in the last 21 contests. Before going into a slump, the Expos had won 10 in a row. Claudell Washington rapped four hits for the Mets in the opener and Lee Mazzilli homered in his fourth consecutive game. Warren Cromartie and John Tamargo figured in the scoring of the Expos' runs in the nightcap. Tamargo drove in two runs with an infield out and a double and also scored on a homer by Cromartie, who had three hits. [The Sporting News] |
