. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Angels won the first game of a doubleheader, 5-1, behind the five-hit pitching of Frank Tanana, before losing the second game to the A's, 5-4. In the opener, Carney Lansford drove in a sixth-inning run to give the Angels a 1-0 lead, and they added four more tallies in the eighth with two scoring on a homer by Don Baylor.

Rick Langford scattered nine hits in a route-going performance in the nightcap. Mike Davis drove in two runs and Wayne Gross collected two hits to pace the A's attack. [The Sporting News]
