After Andre Dawson was passed intentionally to load the bases, Gary Carter grounded to Reitz, who made a poor throw home as LeFlore scored. Scott scored on a fielder's choice grounder by Warren Cromartie. Larry Parrish then hit a sacrifice fly for the deciding tally. Ken Oberkfell clouted a two-run homer for the Cardinals in the ninth.
