Seeking a replacement for injured Paul Molitor, the Brewers apparently found new a leadoff man in catcher Charlie Moore, who hit four straight singles and then bunted safely on his fifth trip in a 7-6 victory over the Red Sox. Moore, who also stole a base, scored three times.

Ben Oglivie drove in four runs for the Brewers, three with his 22nd homer. Cecil Cooper sent Moore home with a double in the fifth and then singled to score Moore again with what proved to be the deciding run in the sixth. Rick Burleson hit two singles, a double and three-run homer for the Red Sox. Carlton Fisk contributed a two-run homer. [The Sporting News]
