When Jerry Reuss tired after allowing only three hits in seven scoreless innings, the Dodgers were hard pressed to defeat the Astros, 3-2. Bobby Castillo, Dave Goltz and Steve Howe all pitched in relief before the game ended. The Dodgers scored an unearned run on an error by Astros third baseman Enos Cabell in the seventh inning and then decided the outcome when Steve Garvey singled and Dusty Baker homered in the eighth.
