Hitting a homer against the Mets for the fifth time this season, Mike Easler connected with two men on base in the third inning to carry the Pirates to a 4-2 victory. Easler scored the Pirates' first run, hitting a double in the second and crossing the plate on single by Ed Ott before lashing his homer in the third following a double by Dave Parker and pass to John Milner. Lee Mazzilli was collared in five trips, ending the Mets outfielder's 18-game hitting streak. [The Sporting News]
