A three-run eruption in the sixth inning triggered the Red Sox to an 8-4 victory over the Tigers. With the score tied, 4-4. in the sixth, Jim Dwyer walked, Butch Hobson singled and Rick Burleson doubled home Dwyer. Hobson also scored on the play when left fielder Jim Lentine mishandled the ball. Dave Stapleton then singled Burleson home. Boston's final run came in the seventh on a homer by Tony Perez. [The Sporting News]
