Sunday July 13, 1980
. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Held hitless for seven innings by Steve Trout, the Yankees erupted for three hits, including a two-run homer by Rick Cerone, in the eighth to defeat the White Sox, 3-1, behind the two-hit hurling of Rudy May. May had a no-hitter for 6 1/3 innings before Chet Lemon doubled and scored on a single by Ron Pruitt.

Eric Soderholm began the Yankees' eighth with a walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Fred Stanley. Lou Piniella broke up the no-hitter with a single that sent Stanley to third, but Piniella made a wide turn at first and was thrown out. A single by Ruppert Jones plated Stanley and Cerone followed with his round-tripper. [The Sporting News]
