Combining on a three-hitter, Allen Ripley and Al Holland hurled the Giants to a 2-0 victory over the Reds. Ripley went seven innings before leaving the mound because of a pulled left hamstring.

The Giants scored in the seventh on a single by Bill North and double by Darrell Evans and added an insurance marker in the eighth when Joe Strain singled, took second on a groundout and came home on a double by Mike Sadek. [The Sporting News]
