A suicide squeeze bunt produced the winning run as the Twins edged the Yankees, 5-4. The game was tied, 4-4, when Ron Jackson began the Twins' eighth with a two-bagger and advanced to third on a groundout by Jose Morales.

After Rich Gossage relieved Ron Guidry on the hill for the Yanks, pinch-hitter Mike Cubbage laid down a perfect bunt, enabling Jackson to score. The Yankees' runs came on a three-run homer by Reggie Jackson in the first and solo shot by Willie Randolph in the seventh, which tied the game. [The Sporting News]
