Johnny Bench cracked a two-run homer to become the all-time leading slugger among catchers and George Foster contributed a three-run shot as the Reds defeated the Expos, 11-7. Foster's blast in the fifth inning broke a 4-4 tie and, after Ray Knight singled, Bench madethe score 7-4 with his record-breaking smash. Bench raised his career homer total as a catcher to 314 to pass Yogi Berra. [The Sporting News]
