A throwing error by Dick Ruthven enabled the Astros to score the winning run in the ninth inning and beat the Phillies, 3-2. Alan Ashby began the frame with a single and was replaced by pinch-runner Jeff Leonard, who advanced to second on a balk. Craig Reynolds then laid down a bunt which Ruthven fielded and threw wild, allowing Leonard to score. [The Sporting News]
