Two errors on one play by Bill Russell opened the gates for the Cubs to score two runs in the sixth inning and defeat the Dodgers, 4-1. The score was 1-1 in the sixth when Bill Buckner singled.

After Cliff Johnson flied out, Mike Vail hit a grounder to Russell, who bobbled the ball and then threw wildly in an attempt for a forceout at second base, allowing Buckner to score and Vail to reach third. Vail then tallied on an infield out by Tim Blackwell. [The Sporting News]
