. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Ellis Valentine went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to pace the Expos to a 6-4 triumph over the Reds. The Expos scored twice in their first turn at bat on a run-scoring single by Valentine and a throwing error by Reds third baseman Ray Knight.

Larry Parrish drilled a bases-empty homer in the second inning and the Expos took a 5-0 lead in the sixth on a two-run single by Gary Carter. Valentine capped Montreal's scoring with an RBI double in the eighth. Winning pitcher Steve Rogers gave up solo homers in the seventh to Knight, Joe Nolan and Sam Mejias, but Stan Bahnsen came on to save the game. [The Sporting News]
