A two-out single by Richie Zisk in the ninth inning drove home the winning run as the Rangers edged the White Sox, 3-2. With nobody on base and two out in the ninth, Bump Wills singled and stole second.

Buddy Bell, who earlier had extended his hitting streak to 21 games, was intentionally walked. Ed Farmer relieved Mike Proly on the hill for the White Sox and Zisk greeted the new pitcher with a line drive up the middle as Wills raced home with the decisive marker. [The Sporting News]
