Willie Wilson collected five hits and Amos Otis and George Brett rapped four apiece to lead the Royals' 21-hit attack in a 13-1 trouncing of the Yankees. Brett started the Royals' scoring, smashing a homer after a single by Wilson in the first inning. Larry Gura, who once was with the Yankees, pitched a three-hitter and brought his career record against the New York club to 6-1. [The Sporting News]
