Pete Rose and Bake McBride batted in three runs apiece and Mike Schmidt smashed a homer to back up the pitching of Nino Espinosa and Dickie Noles as the Phillies defeated the Braves, 7-2. Bob Horner and Chris Chambliss homered for the Braves' only hits off Espinosa, who pitched the first seven innings. Noles allowed a single by pinch-hitter Biff Pocoroba while hurling the last two frames. [The Sporting News]
