A throwing error by first baseman Warren Cromartie in the ninth inning permitted the winning run to score as the Astros edged the Expos, 4-3. Jose Cruz led off the inning with a walk. Dave Bergman laid a down sacrifice bunt that Cromartie fielded but threw past second baseman Rodney Scott, who was covering first, allowing Cruz to score. [The Sporting News]
