After squandering an early 4-0 lead, the Angels prevailed over the Tigers, 6-4. The game was tied, 4-4, in the seventh inning, when Jason Thompson doubled, took third as Joe Rudi flied out and, after a walk to Bobby Grich, scored the go-ahead run on a single by Larry Harlow.

A single by Thompson drove in the Angels' insurance marker in the eighth. Lance Parrish clouted two homers for the Tigers, the second coming in the sixth inning with a mate aboard to forge a 4-4 deadlock. [The Sporting News]
