Firing a four-hitter, Ron Guidry pitched the Yankees to a 4-0 victory over the Brewers. The Yanks scored their first run in the fourth inning when Graig Nettles doubled, went to third on a wild pitch and tallied on a sacrifice fly by Jim Spencer.

Two runs followed in the fifth when Bucky Dent doubled, Bobby Murcer drove him home with a single, then stole second and scored on a single by Oscar Gamble. The final run in the eighth was unearned on an error by Don Money. [The Sporting News]
