A single by Gary Matthews in the ninth inning drove home the winning run as the Braves shaded the Expos, 6-5. The Expos had tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the ninth when Larry Parrish doubled, reached third on a groundout and came home on a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Jerry White.

With one out in the Braves' half, Glenn Hubbard singled and raced to third on a single by Dale Murphy. After Chris Chambliss was intentionally walked, Matthews connected for the game-winning hit. [The Sporting News]
