Jack Clark drove in four runs with a homer and sacrifice fly and Mike Ivie had four hits and three RBIs to lead a 21-hit attack that carried the Giants to a 14-6 thrashing of the Cubs. The Giants scored six runs in the third inning on a three-run round-tripper by Clark, a bases-loaded balk, sacrifice fly by Dennis Littlejohn and a wild pitch.

Joe Pettini opened the seventh stanza with his first major league homer and the Giants got three more runs later in the frame on a sacrifice fly by Clark, RBI double by Larry Herndon and run-scoring single by Ivie. [The Sporting News]
