After slugging their way to a 7-5 victory in the opener, the Red Sox were stopped by Geoff Zahn in the nightcap and lost to the Twins, 6-0, to split a twi-night doubleheader. Dwight Evans hit two homers and Tony Perez rapped a homer, double and single for the Red Sox in the first game.

The Twins settled the issue quickly in the second game, scoring three runs in the first inning. Rick Sofield and Rob Wilfong hit RBI singles and Butch Wynegar accounted for the third run with a sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
