Clint Hurdle knocked in four runs with an inside-the-park homer and single to lead the Royals' batting behind Rich Gale, who defeated the Yankees, 6-1, for his seventh victory in his last eight decisions. In the second inning, after a single by John Wathan, Hurdle circled the bases on a drive that bounced off the right field wall back toward the infield.
