Joe Price pitched six innings of two-hit relief as the Reds routed the Mets, 10-4. Cincinnati scored six runs in the third inning. The outburst began when Ray Knight reached first base on an error by shortstop Frank Taveras.

After a walk to Ken Griffey, George Foster singled Knight home. Johnny Bench followed with a two-run single and Dave Concepcion and Ron Oester added RBI singles. A sacrifice fly by Dave Collins capped the big inning. [The Sporting News]
