Larry Herndon drove in four runs and Rennie Stennett smacked a two-run, tie-breaking double to lead the Giants to a 6-4 decision over the Cardinals. The game was tied, 3-3, when Jack Clark led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single.

After Herndon flied out, Clark took third on a double by Darrell Evans. Stennett then delivered a two-bagger down the left field line. Herndon drilled a three-run homer in the first frame and RBI single in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
