. . . where the 1970s live forever!
George Brett extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a three-run homer in the fourth inning to spark the Royals to a 6-3 victory over the Tigers. Brett's blast followed an infield single by Hal McRae and a walk to Willie Wilson.

The next time up, two of Milt Wilcox's pitches forced Brett to hit the dirt. After he flied out to center, Brett rounded first and pointed an accusing finger at Wilcox. The pitcher then threw down his glove and a benches-clearing free-for-all ensued. Brett was ejected from the game. The Royals scored their final three runs in the eighth on an infield hit by Frank White, triple by Wilson and doubles by McRae and Dave Chalk. [The Sporting News]
