Pushing across two runs in the eighth inning, the Angels sent the Mariners down to their 11th straight defeat, 5-4. The Angels trailed, 4-3, in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Joe Rudi stroked a one-out single and was replaced by pinch-runner Larry Harlow, who moved to third on a single by Bobby Grich.

Grich reached second when Leon Roberts bobbled the ball in center field for an error. Harlow scored the tying run as Bobby Clark grounded out and pinch-hitter Jason Thompson then blooped a single to plate Grich. [The Sporting News]
