A seven-run outburst in the seventh inning lifted the Angels to an 8-3 decision over the Mariners. Jason Thompson, Bobby Grich and Bobby Clark began the inning with singles, Clark's hit scoring Thompson. After Byron McLaughlin replaced Rob Dressler on the hill, Grich scored on a bunt by Bert Campaneris when McLaughlin threw late to the plate.

Dan Whitmer followed with another bunt and McLaughlin threw late to third, loading the bases. An error by Tom Paciorek then permitted a run to score and Carney Lansford climaxed the inning with a three-run homer. [The Sporting News]
