The Dodgers erupted for seven runs in the second inning, three scoring on a homer by Ron Cey, to defeat the Reds, 9-4. Tom Seaver was the victim of the outburst as the Dodgers put together a single by Rick Monday, doubles by Pedro Guerrero, Steve Yeager and Darrel Thomas and a single by Dusty Baker for four runs before Steve Garvey singled and Cey clouted his homer to climax the outburst.
