. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A three-run homer by Tim Blackwell in the fifth inning carried the Cubs to a 3-1 victory in the first game of a doubleheader, but the Expos came back to win the second game, 4-3. Bruce Sutter picked up his 24th save of the season in the opener, after replacing Rick Reuschel with two out in the ninth inning, but the Cubs' relief ace was the loser of the nightcap.

With the score tied, 3-3, Sutter was on the mound in the eighth inning when Tony Bernazard beat out an infield hit, advanced to second on a sacrifice by Andre Dawson and scored the Expos' winning run on a single by Ellis Valentine. [The Sporting News]
