Cesar Cedeno and Luis Pujols batted in seven runs between them to pace the Astros to a 9-5 victory over the Padres. The Astros scored five runs in the fourth inning. one run crossing the plate on a single by Cedeno and three on a triple by Pujols.

After the Padres came back to tie the score, Craig Reynolds singled in the seventh, Rafael Landestoy was hit by a pitch and Enos Cabell doubled to put the Astros ahead again. Terry Puhl then drew a walk to load the bases and Cedeno cleared the sacks with a double. [The Sporting News]
