The Brewers won the first game. 5-1, and the Indians took the second, 9-4, in a split of a doubleheader. Cecil Cooper batted in three of the Brewers' runs in the opener with a single and double and Mike Caldwell pitched a five-hitter.

Alan Bannister and Toby Harrah led the Indians' attack in the second game. Bannister stroked a sacrifice fly in a four-run first inning, singled home two more runs in the second and had an RBI groundout in the eighth. Harrah drilled a two-run single in the first and added a run-scoring single in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
