Ken Griffey singled home the winning run in the seventh inning and then saved the game by throwing out the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the frame as the Reds triumphed over the Padres, 1-0. The Reds tallied in the seventh when Dave Collins singled, stole second, moved to third on an infield out and came home when Griffey grounded a single to right.

The Padres had the tying run on third with one out in the seventh when Griffey caught Ozzie Smith's fly ball and made a perfect one-hop throw to catcher Joe Nolan to double up Rollie Fingers attempting to score. [The Sporting News]
