Lee Mazzilli and Jerry Morales drove in two runs apiece to lift the Mets to a 5-3 victory over the Pirates. The Mets were outhit, 12-4, but Mazzilli doubled home two runs in the first inning and Morales knocked in the third tally with a sacrifice fly.

Morales was credited with another RBI that broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth when Bucs shortstop Dale Berra erred on his ground ball. Dan Norman then hit into a forceout that plated the Mets' final run. [The Sporting News]
