A sacrifice fly by Jerry Martin in the ninth inning produced the winning run as the Cubs shaded the Phillies, 2-1. After Mike Schmidt tied the game in the top of the ninth with a homer, Ivan DeJesus opened the bottom of the frame with a walk and reached second on a single by Bill Buckner. After Steve Dillard walked to load the bases, Ron Reed replaced Dick Ruthven on the mound for the Phillies and Martin then drove a fly ball to center. [The Sporting News]
