Al Oliver hit four home runs, one in the opener and three in the nightcap, to lead the Rangers to a 9-3 and 12-6 sweep of a doubleheader with the Tigers. In the first game, Oliver cracked a leadoff homer in the fourth inning, tripled home another run in the fifth and added his third RBI of the game with a double in the seventh.

In the second game, the Rangers' slugger hit a solo shot in the fifth, two-run blast in the seventh and bases-empty clout in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
