A single by Carl Yastrzemski snapped a 5-5 deadlock in the ninth inning as the Red Sox won over the A's, 7-5. The score was 5-5 when Tony Perez, who hit his 21st homer in the seventh, led off the ninth with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch and came home on Yastrzemski's hit. The Red Sox added an extra run later in the inning on a bases-loaded walk by A's pitcher Dave Beard. [The Sporting News]
