. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Although George Brett's hitting streak was stopped at 30 games, the Royals rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Rangers, 4-3. Brett popped out to center field in the first inning, grounded to second in the third, walked on a 3-2 pitch in the sixth and grounded to first in the ninth.

The Royals' winning rally began with U.L. Washington reaching first base on an error by Texas shortstop Dave Roberts. After Brett's out, a double by Hal McRae scored Washington. Danny Darwin replaced starter Jon Matlack on the mound and was greeted with a single by Amos Otis, driving in McRae. Otis then reached third on a single by John Wathan. John Henry Johnson took over for Darwin and Willie Aikens slapped a single that put the Royals ahead. [The Sporting News]
