A three-run first inning triggered the Astros to a 5-2 triumph over the Pirates. Joe Morgan drew a leadoff walk, Enos Cabell followed with a single and Jose Cruz belted a double to plate the first run.

A groundout by Cesar Cedeno produced the second run and Art Howe poked a single to right to drive in the third tally of the inning. The Astros got their two other runs in the sixth on a walk to Cruz, triple by Cedeno and sacrifice fly by Howe. [The Sporting News]
