Posting their eighth consecutive victory, the Astros scored in the 12th inning to edge the Cubs, 3-2. With one out, pinch-hitter Dave Bergman walked and stopped at second on a single by Rafael Landestoy.

After Joe Morgan flied out, Bill Caudill, the Cubs' loser in relief, committed a balk which moved Bergman to third and Landestoy to second. Although first base was open, the Cubs chose to pitch to Enos Cabell, who wrecked that decision with the game-winning single. [The Sporting News]
