Allen Ripley tripled and drove in two runs for the first extra-base hit and first RBIs of his major league career to help himself to victory as the Giants defeated the Phillies, 6-2. With the score 2-2, Darrell Evans and Milt May hit consecutive doubles in the sixth inning to produce the Giants' tie-breaking run. Rennie Stennett then was passed intentionally to bring up Ripley, who surprised everyone with his hit. [The Sporting News]
