Collecting 14 hits, the Blue Jays downed the Rangers, 6-4. The Jays broke a 2-2 tie in the third inning when Otto Velez drew a walk and scored from first on a double by John Mayberry. The Jays then put the game out of the Rangers' reach with three runs in the fourth on singles by Danny Ainge and Ernie Whitt, a triple by Alfredo Griffin and double by Roy Howell.
