Fred Martinez, completing his first game in 16 starts this season, outdueled 21-game winner Steve Stone and pitched the Angels to a 5-0 victory over the Orioles. The Angels, who beat the Orioles for the first time in 10 tries this year, tagged Stone for a run in the first inning on a two-out single by Rod Carew, pass to Jason Thompson and double by Don Baylor. That was enough for Martinez, but the Angels' other scoring included a two-run triple by Rick Miller in the fourth. [The Sporting News]
