George Foster batted in six runs to lead the Reds to an 8-7 victory over the Pirates. Foster hit a two-run double in the fourth inning and three-run homer in the fifth to tie the score at 5-5.

With the clubs knotted 6-6, Ken Griffey singled in the seventh, continued to third on a fielding error by Dave Parker and scored on a double by Dave Concepcion to send the Reds ahead.
