An infield out by Manny Trillo accounted for one run and a single by Larry Bowa added another when the Phillies scored twice in the second inning.

Their deciding run in the third was unearned. Bake McBride walked and would have been out on an attempted steal of second, but Tim Flannery dropped the ball for an error. Two outs later, McBride scored on a single by Keith Moreland. [The Sporting News]
